Figure skating. Figure skating Shcherbakov failed both quads
VANCOUVER, December 9 - RIA Novosti, Anatoly Samokhvalov. The finals of the Junior Grand Prix in figure skating ended in Vancouver, Russian athletes won 10 out of 12 possible awards, and in three out of four events they took the entire podium.
The Russians won the entire pedestal in the women's single skating, where Alena Kostornaya became the first, Alexandra Trusova the second, Alena Kanysheva the third, in ice dancing - Sofia Shevchenko / Igor Eremenko (1st place), Arina Ushakova / Maxim Nekrasov (2nd place), Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva / Nikita Nazarov (3rd place), as well as in pair skating - Anastasia Mishina / Alexander Gallyamov (1st), Polina Kostyukovich / Dmitry Yalin (2nd), Apollinaria Panfilova / Dmitry Rylov (3rd).
Kostornaya wins and looks forward to the fight with Kihira and Zagitova
“I didn’t think about it (about gold), I reasoned like this: maybe yes, or maybe not. As fate wills. The main thing is to make your own,” said the winner of the Final Kostornaya immediately after it became clear that the current champion the world among juniors Alexander Trusova does not bypass her.
“But I understand one thing: this season is harder than the last one. I understand that next I will have to go out and compete with Rika (Kikhira), Alina (Zagitova), Lisa (Tuktamysheva), I need to recruit international ranking" she added.
Trusova, who came to Canada with hopes of winning the Final gold for the second year in a row, performed unsuccessfully in free program two quadruple lutz, and a cleanly executed quadruple sheepskin coat and a number of complex cascades did not allow her to bypass Kostornaya, who scored 217.98 points in the end. This is more than Tuktamysheva, who won bronze in the adult final.
“Of course, I wanted to skate cleanly, especially in training I succeeded and in the warm-up I got a quadruple lutz. I must have been worried. I hope that I will be able to do it at the Russian Championships,” Trusova said.
One of the main candidates for a place in the top three and even for victory was Anna Shcherbakova, who was the first in the history of women's singles to perform two quadruple lutz in one program. This time Anna broke these elements, and before that she failed the short program and eventually became the fifth - 181.83.
“I can say that they can be made stable. It is not so difficult if it is (made) right in technical terms,” Shcherbakova said about the quadruple lutz.
Bronze was won by the debutant of the junior season of the Grand Prix series Alena Kanysheva, who scored 198.14 points. “I think that I did my best. I didn’t expect to get on the podium at all, the third place was a big surprise for me. I am very pleased,” said Kanysheva.
Anastasia Tarakanova, winner of last year's Junior Grand Prix Final, skated cleanly in her free program, but finished fourth (190.46).
Mishina/Gallyamov draw gold, and Shevchenko/Eremenko are shocked by the victory
The bronze medalists of the World Championship among juniors in the competition of sports couples Mishina and Gallyamov went after short program in third position, but in the end they managed to win gold, gaining a total of 190.63 points. Kostyukovich and Yalin lost more than a point to their competitors and partners in the Velikovs group (189.53). Third place went to Panfilova and Rylov (186.59).
The final of the junior Grand Prix in ice dancing ended in triumph Russian athletes. Sofia Shevchenko/Igor Eremenko won gold, Arina Ushakova/Maxim Nekrasov won silver, Elizaveta Khudaiberdiyeva/Nikita Nazarov won bronze.
Shevchenko/Eremenko were in the lead after the rhythm dance in the Junior Grand Prix Final, ahead of their closest competitors and compatriots Ushakova and Nekrasov by 24 hundredths of a point. The free program was won by the Ushakova/Nekrasov pair, who scored 103.16 points, but Shevchenko and Eremenko won the total points (170.66). The duet Ushakov / Nekrasov became the second (170.65).
“We don’t feel emotions, we are in a state of shock,” Shevchenko told reporters. “We still don’t believe in what happened. We walk with round glassy eyes. It’s very hard to believe it. to fully feel and experience this joy."
Khudaiberdiyeva and Nazarov scored 164.54 points in total, beating Canadians Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lag, who became fourth, by three hundredths of a point.

It has been held since the 1997/1998 season. It was conceived as a junior analogue of the Figure Skating Grand Prix series (held for adult figure skaters).
Order of conduct
Each season of the Junior Grand Prix consists of several stages (tournaments). At each stage, competitions are held and medals are awarded in four disciplines: men's single skating, women's single skating, pair skating and ice dancing. Usually there are seven stages, they can be held in different years in different countries.
According to the results of each stage, the skaters, depending on the place taken, are awarded points. In each of the four disciplines, there are six participants (skaters or pairs) who scored in the season the largest number points, get the right to speak in final tournament, the so-called Grand Prix Final in figure skating among juniors. (IN last years the final is held in parallel with the final of the adult Grand Prix, that is, in the same place and at the same time.)
Selection
Unlike the adult Grand Prix series, juniors are not selected by rating, but by the decision of their Figure Skating Federation. The minimum age of a participant is 13 years old (must be completed before July 1 of the current year), the maximum age is 19 years old (21 years old for young men performing in pairs or sports dances). A vivid example is Adelina Sotnikova, who was born on July 1, 1996 in Moscow, did not have the right to compete at the YuGP until the 2010-2011 season.
Prize fund
The prize fund at the stages of the Junior Grand Prix series is.
Three Russian figure skaters: Alexandra Trusova, Alena Kostornaya and Anastasia Tarakanova take the first three places after the short program in the junior Grand Prix final in Nagoya.
Daria Panenkova and Sofia Samodurova take 5th and 6th places.
Five Russian figure skaters reached the final of the Junior Grand Prix series. With the exception of Sofya Samodurova, a student of Alexei Mishin, the rest of the athletes train in Moscow in the group of Eteri Tutberidze.
It is noteworthy that all Russians purely skated short programs in Nagoya. Only Darya Panenkova on the flip and Sofya Samodurova on the lutz were given an obscure edge. The skaters themselves noted that the current Junior Grand Prix final reminds them to some extent of the Russian championship, and some participants even train at the Khrustalny skating rink. But this does not in the least cancel the excitement and serious attitude to the start.
By the Grand Prix finals, Alexandra Trusova's program has become even brighter and more polished. When asked by journalists how the athlete succeeds, Sasha admitted that she just needs to work very hard, which she does every day.
“Of course I was worried. This is my first final. A lot of people. But she overcame herself. I really wanted to come here. I reassured myself that no matter how I skated, I believed that everything would be fine, ”commented Sasha.
For the short program, Trusova received her highest points of the season - 73.25. But at the same time I noticed that the rental is not considered ideal.
“We need to work on spins. They are slow for me. Over riding. And there is always something to work on,” Sasha added. “I was hoping that with a clean rental I would get for 70. But the score - 73.25 points for me to some extent came as a surprise,” she said.
The athlete confirmed that in the free program she would jump the quadruple salchow and try to perform it cleanly. Recall that this season Alexandra Trusova began to do this difficult jump at the Australian Grand Prix, and then at subsequent tournaments. Trusova with the first result was selected for the Grand Prix final, winning the Grand Prix in Brisbane and Minsk.
Alena Kostornaya from Team Tutberidze also scored over 70 points - 71.65 for the short program in the series final in Nagoya. The athlete explained that she loves to perform in public, and in this case it played a positive role.
“I was very well supported by the public. I like it when you go out on the ice, skate programs, people only look at you. It inspires, - Alena admitted. “I didn't really care. Only a little when I went out for a six-minute warm-up. Still, the first serious start. But then the excitement passed. Everything I could, I did. And the points I got don't surprise me. I was ready for the fact that with a clean rental I would get for 70. So much work! But mostly this is the merit of our coaching team. I'm just a performer. I never guess what points I will be given. My task is to skate cleanly, to do my own.”
The figure skater explained that at each training session she does several whole programs. And her personal record is five such rentals. True, she skated the program not “from and to”. But still, it was a lot of work.
Anastasia Tarakanova closes the top three after the first look in Nagoya.
“I got over my anxiety,” she explained. Although I was worried. This is still my debut, the Grand Prix final is a responsible start. Because of this, she was constrained, a little clamped. But I'm happy with the rental. Technical elements turned out. "Sizn best". But, of course, I would like to get more, around 68.5-69 points I could. I always strive for more. But it's also an experience. My debut. But I will learn. I will skate the free skate more calmly, I will try to please everyone, ”said Nastya.
Daria Panenkova is fifth after the short program.
“I skated here more confidently than at my previous competitions - the fifth stage of the Russian Cup. There were fewer worries. The public was supportive. Everything worked out well. But the flip needs to be worked on. I wish the ratings were higher. It means that I didn’t finish it somewhere, ”Dasha commented.
Sofia Samoudrova said that she showed a good performance for herself.
“Aleksey Nikolaevich is satisfied. For me, this is the main thing. Ride decently. The preparations went according to plan. As usual. It is unusual that the women's final in juniors is like the championship of Russia. The strongest athletes compete. And mine the main task- show your programs and skate cleanly, ”said the athlete.
