Russian hockey players won the Olympic gold of the Games in Pyeongchang, beating the German team in overtime of the final match.

Thus, the silver went to the German team, and the bronze went to the Canadians, who defeated the Czechs in the match for third place (6:4).

This is the first victory of the Russian team at the Olympic Games: in 1992, the combined team won gold, and the USSR national team has seven victories at the Olympics. The best result of the German team (FRG) at the Games was bronze medals.

For Russian athletes, this gold was the second at the Games in Pyeongchang.

The best players of the tournament

In the list of the best snipers of the tournament, the Russians Ilya Kovalchuk and Kaprizov shared the first place with the American Ryan Donato (five goals each), Gusev also became the best passer of the tournament.

“Today, the IOC Executive Committee decided that until the end of the Games in Pyeongchang, the status of the Olympic Athletes from Russia team remains neutral, the temporary suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee remains, and our team will participate in the closing ceremony under the Olympic flag.

The reason for this decision was two anti-doping rule violations committed by our athletes during the Games.

Along with this, a special IOC group led by Nicole Howertz, which determined the rules for the participation of athletes of the OCP team in the 2018 Games and assessed their compliance in Pyeongchang, stated in its report that all the conditions on the part of the delegation and OCP athletes were fully met, and doping cases cannot be attributed to systemic violations.

Based on this, the IOC Executive Board voted to lift the temporary suspension from the Russian Olympic Committee automatically after the verification of all doping samples taken during the Olympic Games is completed and, of course, in the absence of positive samples. According to the regulations, the verification procedure takes up to 72 hours.

We hope and very much expect that within the next few days the membership of the ROC in the IOC will be fully restored.

The status of our country and the interests of our athletes are an absolute priority for us. In the light of the current situation, we believe that the restoration of the rights of the ROC and all Russian athletes will be the main result of the Olympic Games ending today,” the press service of the ROC said in a statement.

Two doping cases among Russian athletes at the Pyeongchang Olympics were a key factor in the decision not to reinstate the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), said International Olympic Committee (IOC) head Thomas Bach.

“Two doping cases were in the OAR delegation, and this played a major role, a key factor in the decision not to remove the suspension (from OCD). But there was no indication in these cases of a systematic approach or that the OAR delegation was trying to hide it,” Bach said.

“In curling, the Russians immediately returned the medal so that we could present it to the Norwegians already at the Olympics. This happened on Medalnaya Square yesterday, it was done to a large extent thanks to the Russian side, thanks to the way they behaved in this situation,” he added.

At the Games in Pyeongchang, two Russian athletes - curler Alexander Krushelnitsky and bobsledder Nadezhda Sergeeva - passed positive doping tests. Krushelnitsky and Anastasia Bryzgalova, who won Olympic bronze in the mixed doubles tournament, were stripped of their medals.

On December 5, the IOC Executive Board suspended the membership of the ROC, but allowed "clean" Russian athletes to compete at the 2018 Olympics under the Olympic flag, subject to certain conditions and in the status of "Olympic Athletes from Russia" (OAR).

Members of the IOC at the session of the organization in Pyeongchang unanimously voted for the early removal of the disqualification of the Russian Olympic Committee, but not before the closing ceremony of the 2018 Games.

Thus, the IOC executive committee did not allow Russian athletes to march under the Russian flag at the closing of the Olympic Games.

Olympics 2018: results. The will of our athletes was our flag

On February 25, the most intense and scandalous Olympic Games for Russian athletes officially ended. Our athletes won two gold medals: Alina Zagitova won in women's figure skating, and just before the closing of the Games, our youth team scratched out a victory in men's hockey from the Germans.

According to the results of the medal count The first place at the Olympic Games 2018 was taken by the Norwegian team(14 gold, 14 silver, 11 bronze awards). Also, the Norwegians have updated the record for the number of medals in one winter Games. Second position for Germany (14, 10, 7), the third are Canadians(11, 8, 10). We are in 13th place.

In Pyeongchang, our athletes competed under the Olympic flag due to the fact that the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee disqualified the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). Only “clean” Russian athletes, who were selected by a special commission of the IOC, were able to take part in the Olympics. All of our eminent and experienced athletes were not admitted to the 2018 Olympics. Yesterday's juniors went to Pyeongchang - our young generation and their will to win was our flag.

Even at the closing of the 2018 Olympics, the flag was not returned to our athletes, they had to go again under the Olympic banner. The reason for this decision is two doping scandals with the Russians - meldonium was found in the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games-2018 Alexander Krushelnitsky, another banned drug was found in the bobsledder Nadezhda Sergeeva.

If not for the doping scandal, Russia would have one more bronze: in curling, double mixed Russians Alexander Krushelnitsky and Anastasia Bryzgalova did not reach the final due to one mistake, but managed to win bronze, beating the Norwegians in the match for third place. However, soon the medal had to be given away. Krushelnitsky passed a positive doping test, meldonium was found in his body. Our curlers were deprived of the bronze medal, giving it to the Norwegians.

The next Winter Olympics will take place in 2022 in Beijing.

At the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, the gold medal of hockey players brought the Russian team to the 13th team place. Medal standings of the Olympics 02/25/2018.

The triumphant victory of Russian hockey players in the Olympic final over Germany allowed our team, which competes at the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang under the status of "Olympic athletes from Russia", to move from 15th to 13th place in the team standings. The Russian team has 17 medals - 2 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze medals.

The day before, Russian skiers Alexander Bolshunov and Andrey Larkov brought silver and bronze medals to the national team at the 50 km marathon distance. In total, our skiers brought 8 medals. And earlier, the first gold medal for Russia was won by figure skater Alina Zagitova.

The leader in the number of gold medals and the first place in the team event was taken by the German team - it has 31 awards (14 gold, 10 silver, 7 bronze medals). In second place is the Norwegian team with 38 medals (13 gold, 14 silver, 11 bronze medals). And the Canadian team closed the top three - it has 29 awards (11 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze medals).

The medal standings of the 2018 Olympics will be formed starting from the first competitive day of the Games - February 10. The 2018 Olympics will end on February 25. At the last Olympics 2014 in Sochi, the Russian team won the unofficial team standings, winning 11 gold, 9 silver and 9 bronze medals.

The final medal standings of the 2018 Olympics will be formed by the last day of the Games - February 25.

ROC: restoring our rights will be the main outcome of the 2018 Olympics

“Today, the IOC Executive Committee decided that until the end of the Games in Pyeongchang, the status of the Olympic Athletes from Russia team remains neutral, the temporary suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee remains, and our team will participate in the closing ceremony under the Olympic flag.

Bach: Two Olympic doping cases played a key role in the decision not to restore OCD

Two doping cases among Russian athletes at the Pyeongchang Olympics were a key factor in the decision not to reinstate the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), said International Olympic Committee (IOC) head Thomas Bach.

The Russians will take part in the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games under the Olympic flag

The IOC Commission under the leadership of Dennis Oswald continues to select the awards of the Russian team won in Sochi-2014. Four gold medals have already been taken away from Russia. After Olympic champion skier Legkov and skeletonist Tretyakov, bobsledder Alexander Zubkov was disqualified for life. At the home Olympics, he won two gold medals.

The Dennis Oswald Commission rechecks all doping samples of Russians in Sochi 2014, looking for scratches and high salt content on them. 13 Russian athletes have already been disqualified for life. Russia lost its leadership in the team medal standings. It is now led by Canada and Norway. The United States took the lead in total medal count. But no one can say why Russian athletes are being punished.

The IOC publishes only final decisions: to annul the results at the Sochi Olympics, to ban participation in the Olympic Games for life ... There is no motivational part, which will state on the basis of what punishments are imposed. Until she is gone, it is impossible to appeal and come to court. And I would like to know what exactly the athletes are punished for. And why the IOC commission is so afraid to publish the evidence.

Evidence from the Oswald Commission

But the logic of the IOC commission somehow becomes clear. Apparently, no doping was found in the samples of Russian athletes. Judged on the basis of circumstantial evidence:

1. Scratches on test tubes (they indicate that the test tubes may have been opened)

2. Increased salt content in samples (indirect sign of possible manipulations with samples)

3. The presence of a surname in the Duchess list (a list of athletes who allegedly took the so-called steroid cocktail "Duchess", invented by Rodchenkov - doping with alcohol (whiskey and martini). The list is presented by Rodchenkov himself).

And what about the athletes?

Well, let's say all this may indicate that some kind of manipulation was carried out with the doping samples of Russian athletes. But what about the athletes themselves? Their participation has not been proven? And how can you blame athletes for something?

The Oswald Commission seems to answer these questions (we remind you that there is no motivational part) as follows:

1. Punished Russian athletes allegedly handed over clean urine so that it could be replaced. That means they were in a conversation.

2. Punished Russian athletes allegedly reported the number of the doping test. (Here it is necessary to clarify: there are no surnames and names on the test tubes, there is only a number. Theoretically, no one knows which doping sample of which athlete has which number, except for the athlete himself and the WADA doping officer. To know which sample to replace, you need to have it number. According to the logic of the commission, it was reported by the athletes).

What's wrong here

Lots of questions. The points.

1. Why did they get the idea that athletes gave clean urine to someone in advance? From the testimony of Grigory Rodchenkov? It is in them that there are such juicy details: was clean urine collected almost in Coca-Cola bottles?

Now imagine: the most serious and complex espionage operation. With sample substitutions and other-other-other. And clean urine - that is, a doping sample that will shine through and across and perhaps not decompose into atoms, is collected in cola bottles! Which itself consists of the devil-what. Yes, there laboratory assistants should be shocked by the results. Couldn't they have found some cleaner container?

That is, there should be some kind of evidence base for collecting clean urine? She is?

2. Transfer of the doping sample number. The number on the test tubes is not easy. You won't remember him that easily. How was it transmitted? Was he photographed with a phone? Did you dictate right away? And what were the WADA doping officers doing at that moment? Is there evidence that the accused athletes reported this number?

3. Salt. Why was salt used if there are allegedly clean urine samples that need to be replaced?

4. Scratches on test tubes. It seems that they said that there are all sorts of scratches, can they even be applied by tightly tightening the lid of the jar? Is not it so?

5. Before and after the Olympic Games, Russian athletes participated in many starts, including and even mostly abroad. And they won there too. They took doping samples from different laboratories. How to explain the fact that they are pure? Modern doping is not an elixir from the comic book of Asterix and Obelix, it does not act instantly. And it doesn't show up in a couple of days.

6. Many accused Russian athletes trained with Western specialists. Skier Legkov - Reto Burgermeister from Switzerland. Other skiers are with the German Isabelle Knaute. The head coach of the Russian national bobsleigh team in Sochi was a Canadian of German origin, Pierre Lueders. Biathlete Olga Zaitseva, whose case was also heard by the Oswald Commission, worked with the German Wolfgang Pichler, an irreconcilable fighter against doping. Were they also in collusion?

Until the Dennis Oswald IOC commission answers at least all these questions exhaustively, all normal people will doubt its conclusions.

PS. medal standings

As an indirect sign of the machinations of the Russian national team, the Sochi-2014 medal standings are cited. And they ask how it happened that at the Vancouver Olympics the Russian team won only 3 gold medals (11th place in the main standings), and in 2014 - 13 at once?

Yes, but doesn't it bother you that Canada had 14 gold medals in Vancouver at home, and only 7 in Turin 2006 4 years ago?

Have you noticed that at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the UK took 29 gold medals, and in Beijing 2008 - only 19? Have you forgotten that in the same Beijing, the Chinese collected 48 "gold", and four years before that in Athens only 32?

Because there is a “home field” factor - familiar tracks,

Plus, we recruited the Korean Victor Ahn, who was not needed by his national team. In Sochi, he won three gold medals and one bronze.

We took Vic Wild - having married Russian snowboarder Alena Zavarzina, he took Russian citizenship. In the US team, he was on the sidelines, and in Sochi he took two "gold".

But the medal table takes on a completely different look. Already instead of 13 gold awards, Russia has only 10, and the third line in the team event. And the execution is not over. At least we have the right to know why.
