In the modern world, the role of biological knowledge and biotechnologies is steadily growing. Today, the profession of "biologist" is associated, first of all, with super-modern laboratories producing ever more advanced medicines; with amazing discoveries made by deciphering the genomes of various organisms and with smart, interesting and fun people who do it all - biologists.

A how to become a biologist- a person who creates the future? You need to know and be able to do a lot, to see and feel the beauty of biological solutions and the efficiency of biological systems, to feel the excitement and joy of making discoveries, even if they are small ones.

Our Olympiad gives you the opportunity to experience it firsthand! After all, learning new things is not only serious work, it is also intellectual pleasure, the excitement of discoveries and expanding one's own boundaries. And perhaps most importantly, modern biology is a huge, bright and living world.

I would like to note that participation in the Olympiads gives an invaluable experience of meeting and communicating with the same enthusiastic guys. This circle of interesting friends flows into adulthood, and even into future work.

The tradition of holding biological Olympiads in Moscow has for more than half a century. A significant part of our team at one time were participants and winners of the All-Russian Olympiad in Biology and the oldest in a series of Olympiads in biology, the School Biology Olympiad of Moscow State University, and then participated in their organization. It's funny that many world-famous scientists still remember which of them once took what place at the Olympiad.

The composition of the methodological commission and the jury of the Olympiad "Highest Standard" in biology included scientists: candidates and doctors of sciences, as well as academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Olympiad tasks include all sections of biology included in school curriculum. To complete the tasks of the second ( final stage) will require not only knowledge, but also the ability to use it creatively: analyze data and put forward hypotheses, find various reasons that explain a particular biological phenomenon. In biology, as in life in general, it is important to remember that most problems have multiple solutions.

Please note that this year the winners and prize-winners of the 11th grade Olympiad will have benefits when entering the HSE Faculty of Biology: 4 to 5 points for individual achievements . Also, the winners and prize-winners (grades 9 and 10) next year will be able to take part immediately in the second round of our Olympiad.

We also invite schoolchildren who love biology to become participants in the open field in Biology, which is held in the format of the Intel-Avangard competition-conference. Authors the best works will not only receive preferences for admission to the Higher School of Economics, but can become a participant finals of the annual world review scientific and engineering creativity of senior students Intel ISEF in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 2018 Russian schoolchildren won nine main and special prizes at Intel ISEF 2018.

The Olympiad is held by the Ministry of Education and local education authorities throughout Russia. Currently, the Olympiad includes 4 stages: school, municipal (city), regional (regional) and final. The winners and prize-winners of the final stage in the 11th grade are entitled to enroll without exams in any university in the country to the faculty in the field of "biology". From the winners of the final stage, the Russian national team for the International Biological Olympiad is also formed. The Olympiad is one of the oldest and mass biological competitions in Russia.

The International Biology Olympiad (IBO) is the highest competition among secondary school students from different countries. Each of the participating countries sends four students from among the winners of the respective national competitions(for the Russian Federation, this is the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in biology).

Traditionally, at the beginning and at the end of each shift of the LMSH, the Introductory and Final Olympics consisting of test and practical tasks. Test tasks of these Olympiads are enough high level complexity and can be useful for preparing for the regional and final stages of the All-Russian Biological Olympiad.

The Summer Biology Olympiad takes place in early July, schoolchildren of grades 7-11, as well as students of universities in Russia and the CIS countries, can participate in it. The Olympiad is held over the Internet in one test round. The tasks of the Olympiad are of a rather high level, because they are formed on the basis of the tasks of the Entrance Olympiad of the Kirov Summer Multi-subject School (where many prize-winners and winners of the Final Stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for School Students in Biology study). Participation in the Olympiad will be useful as a training before the upcoming performances at the All-Russian Olympiad. Registration for Summer Olympics starts annually in mid-April.

The All-Siberian Physics and Mathematics Olympiad for schoolchildren was organized in 1962 on the initiative of Academician M.A. Lavrentiev. By decision of the Russian Council of Olympiads for schoolchildren, the All-Siberian open olympiad schoolchildren is included in the List of Olympiads for schoolchildren for 2009/2010 in mathematics (level 2), physics (level 2), chemistry (level 3), biology (level 3) and computer science (level 2). A feature of the Olympiad is that the winners of the Olympiad are invited to the Summer Physics and Mathematics School held in Akademgorodok (Novosibirsk), according to the results of training in which high school students are admitted to the Physics and Mathematics School, now the Specialized Educational and Scientific Center of Novosibirsk State University.

The Biomedical Olympiad has been held since 2005 at the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine of Moscow State University. The tasks are presented as open-ended questions related to medical biology and human health research. Solving problems requires knowledge of both the medical aspects and applications of biology, as well as the presence of biological thinking and creativity.

Olympics in Moscow:

The oldest biological Olympiad in Russia (and the USSR) has been held since 1951. It takes place in several rounds at the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University. Distinctive feature is that the Olympiad tasks are presented in the form of open tasks that require not only knowledge of certain facts, but also developed biological thinking and a creative approach for a successful solution.

Enough interesting olympiad high-level, organized by one of the largest universities in Canada. Conducted in the form of testing. A distinctive feature is the openness of the competition - not only citizens of Canada, but also citizens of other countries can participate in it. Biomedical Olympiad for schoolchildren (Biomedical Olympiad) has been organized annually at the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine of Lomonosov Moscow State University since 1999. Initially, it was part of a competitive program held as part of the Step into the Future conference for gifted schoolchildren; Since 2005, the Olympiad has acquired an independent status, and a participant can become any willing student of Russia.

The purpose of the Olympiad is to identify talented and capable schoolchildren who are interested in medicine and biology, stimulate creative thinking, and develop "inquisitive mind" among schoolchildren.

Tasks of the Biomedical Olympiad include several original tasks of various specifics and levels of complexity. The tasks are compiled by the FFM MGU team (professional and teaching staff of the departments of the natural science profile, graduate students, residents and students). To solve problems, it is not at all necessary for a student to have purely specific medical knowledge, to know about all diseases, methods of treatment, etc. Tasks are focused on the use of erudition and creative thinking in addition to the knowledge that students have received from school subjects (not only biology, but also chemistry, physics, life safety, etc.). The participants of the Olympiad with their results prove to us every year that at the school level it is quite possible to discuss serious medical problems, to critically review popular scientific literature in the press. You just need to have the courage to find a creative application of everything that you were taught in school.

Written works of the participants of the Olympiad are checked by the jury commission.

The winners are awarded with medals, diplomas and special prizes. Winners and prize-winners of the Biomedical Olympiad do not have benefits when entering the FFM MSU!

MEDICAL BIOLOGICAL OLYMPIAD-2019

In 2019, the Biomedical Olympiad was held in two stages: correspondence and full-time.

The in-person stage took place on April 14, 2019 (Sunday)in the educational building "Lomonosov" (Moscow, Lomonosovsky prospect 27k1).

Analysis of tasks and awarding of winners and prize-winners of the Biomedical Olympiad took place May 19, 2019 at 11-00 in the Lomonosov building of Moscow State University.

On March 02, 2019, the final stage of the Olympiad for schoolchildren "Lomonosov" in Ecology took place. In the Lomonosov building of Moscow State University, the task was performed by 206 schoolchildren: 107 students in grades 10-11, 66 students in grades 8-9 and 33 students in grades 5-7. Three regional sites worked in parallel - in Krasnoyarsk (20 schoolchildren), St. Petersburg (7 schoolchildren) and Astana (in the Kazakhstan branch of Moscow State University - 1 schoolchildren). TOTAL - 234 students participated in the final stage.
